A nature experience, a challenge and an observation of the Camino de Santiago

Our route passes through the Via de la Plata which is the longest and most beautiful route between the Camino de Santiago de and Compostela routes.

The trail itself begins in Seville in southern Spain and passes through the warm plains of Andalusia to the green mountains of Galicia in northwestern Spain. From ancient buildings, traditional stone farms to large and diverse cities. The Via de la Plata offers a rich mix of Spanish cultures.

Our route begins in the town of Orense and ends in the Cathedral of Santiago (St. Games) a total of 115 kilometers that pass through a historic country road dotted with Romanesque churches, peaceful forests, agricultural lands and dormant villages in the green spaces of Galicia. , The monasteries and other motifs associated with Kamino the magic and mystery created over the centuries.

The route includes ups and downs that can be seen as both a physical and mental challenge, but with Santiago's compostle being the ultimate destination and bonus (though not the main one), it is definitely a worthy reward for the route itself.

OURENSE

Ideally located on both banks of the Mino River, a large Galician river. The old quarter of the city is home to the dominant 12th century cathedral, the main square and its arcades and streets with bars and restaurants to suit everyone’s taste. The city boasts the ancient Roman bridge, which relative to its name does not look so ancient because it was renovated alongside the ruins of the old which served as a passage in a transparent period when the city was a major commercial axis for the Mussar to transport goods to Seville. The city is also known for its natural outdoor thermal springs.

The first stage is the most challenging, with a steady climb of about 400 meters along 2 km. The road starts in urban areas and turns into forests and small and magical villages. Our second night we sleep in an old house from the 18th century in a rural town.

Today is a physically and mentally challenging day. Shortly after our starting point, we will cross the 13th century bridge over the "Barbertino" river and enter the city of Saa. A short visit to the city and then we will start the climb to the top of the hill, towards the "jewel of the stage" which is the great and glorious Osira monastery, where a small Sistercy community exists. The agricultural valleys, shady paths and scenery along the way are a satisfying reward for the effort. After visiting the monastery we will head down to Castro Dawson, spend our second night in a peaceful and peaceful place.

Before us is a short and pleasant stage with moderate ups and downs. We progress through small villages, green forests and open fields, crossing the town of "Salida" and the medieval bridge over the river Deze towards the "Bandeira" known for its Galician empanadas pies, where we will have a shuttle to our accommodation for this night, a 17th century stone house Which belonged to a feudal family and was renovated into a hotel.

(20 km) BANDEIRA TO LESTEDO Walking day 5:

Today we enter the last province of Hoya de la Plata, province of Coruna. We will return to the path to our penultimate line on the way to Santiago Cathedral. Today’s stage provides us with a glimpse into authentic agricultural villages that have preserved ancient traditions that have lasted for many years. We progress on comfortable asphalt tracks with moderate ascents and descents, with the exception being the steep descent to the “Valley of the Ola River” that ends in the city of Punta Ola which boasts the ancient and magnificent Roman bridge over the river. In Otirio we can stop and be impressed by the beautiful 18th century chapel and the fountain of Santiago.

The short stage of the day will allow us to get to the cathedral before 1pm. The route is more pleasant than you might expect when approaching the big city.
